Earlier this year, I took a five-week podcasting class at ArtFarm in Annapolis through AND Creative. I signed up because I had already launched a podcast and wanted to sharpen my skills. A little backwards, I know, but I enjoy learning things in real-time. The class, led by John Wist, covered everything from interviewing techniques and
sound engineering to visual production and podcast structure.

Everything I learned helped to make Community Scoop, the podcast I co-host with Jared Littmann, a better experience. Together, we sit down with the people shaping Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. People like public servants, advocates, educators, business owners, and community leaders—and give them space to share their stories in their own words. We talk about what drives them, what challenges them, how they’re working to create a better city for all of us,
and what their go-to meal is after a long day. We also partner with Naptown Scoop, a daily newsletter, to
distribute the podcast to its 22,000 subscribers.

For me, this project is an extension of everything I believe in: community, connection, and impact through storytelling. It’s also another way I get to do the work I care about most, ensuring the voices of local changemakers are heard, valued, and amplified.
