Each year, our office oversees the production of the Anne Arundel County Executive's Black History Month Awards, known as the 'Few of the Many' Awards. In collaboration with the Caucus of African American Leaders, we honor Black residents who embody the theme of the year. For the 2024 theme, "African Americans and the Arts," our honorees represented various artistic mediums, including photography, painting, digital art, singing, and more.
We always engage with local news media to cover our events, and it was gratifying to see WBAL11 present at the ceremony. Unexpectedly, I was called for an interview at the last minute. Despite battling a lingering cold and suppressing the urge to cough, I gladly seized the opportunity to share the significance of the event with the broader community.
